Did you know that you yourself can make news posts that will show on the main page of your website?! I KNOW! AMAZING! This is very simple. First you go to www.alexandraalden.nl/wp-admin
Username: News Pasword: Ihavenews!
You have arrived at the dashboard. Here you can click on ‘posts’. Here you can find all the posts that have been published. Simply click on ‘New Post’ to add another.
You are brought to a beautiful empty canvas that you can fill with whatever your heart desires: Upcoming Shows, Release dates, Reviews, Pictures of Croissants etc.
In the next chapter I will explain how to make an awesome post!
How does this shit work?
We just pressed on ‘New Post’, but how the actual fuck do you fill this?!?!?!?!
Let’s first give it a title. You will see ‘Add Title at the top’. So far so good right?
NOW WE NEED TO ADD THAT CONTENT SON
Press the + icon. A cute tiny menu will appear:
The 3 most important features that you will need are already there:
– Paragraph: These are the lines of text (just like this) you can use to write the body of the message.
– Image: For example of a oat milk latte cappuccino
– Heading: Gots to have a heading to catch the attention.
LOOK AT THIS HEADING!
When you are hovering over a tekst you’ll see the following menu:
The first icon means it’s a paragraph. With the six dots icon you can move the selected text to a different location. Same with the arrows.
Then we have 3 the icon with the 3 lines under each other. Here we can align a tekst
Because sometimes we want tekst on the left
Or in the middle
The B icon makes it bold. I is Italic. (But that is basic ass computer stuff you already know :])
This weird icon (-) is used to add a hyperlink. Just highlight the words that need to be linked and VOILA
YOU NOW HAVE ALL THE BASIC TOOLS TO MAKE A NEWS ITEM.
Adding a featured Image
Before we publish the post we need to add a ‘featured image’. This image will show on the main page of the website. On the top right press the following button:
Then ‘Post’
Go down to ‘Featured Image’ and add the picture that you would like.
uno little thingy before you post…
So I don’t know how to automate this… But you’ll need to disable comments (because too many internet spammers… (Unless you are interested in Viagra). So go the the following menu
Then if you scroll a bit down, you’ll see “Elements”. Here You can disable the comments by clicking on the eye. (Also other stuff if you want).
ALL LOOKS GOOD! Publish dat shit. Using the same menu as above but now press uhhh, a yeah ‘Publish’
